The following is a list of our distinguished music instruction faculty:

• Director — Dr. Michael Lehtinen: Instructor of Piano, Organ, and Musikgarten.  On the faculty since 1995.  DMA, MM from the Eastman School of Music, BMus from Oberlin Conservatory.  Musikgarten certification.
  
  
• Baker, James — Registered piano tuner and technician.
• Beach, Connie — Instructor of Flute.  MM and BMus from the University of Memphis.  Connie has been a member of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and the Germantown (Tennessee) Symphony Orchestra.  She is currently the associate director of the Charlotte Flute Choir.  Connie has over 30 years of teaching experience.
• Bilousova, Natasha — Instructor of Piano. DMA from Donetsk State Conservatory (Ukraine), and BMus from Severodonetsk State Music College (Ukraine).
• Bowes, Lynn — Instructor of Flute. DMA, University of Iowa, MM from Illinois State University, BM from Western Carolina University (Cullowhee).  Lynn grew up in Charlotte and is glad to be back after pursuing her education.
• Cheek, John — Instructor of Piano. DMA from  Manhattan School of Music, MM from the University of New York at Stoneybrook, and BMus from Indiana University.  John has been Professor of Piano at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC, since 1988.  John has maintained a private studio throughout his college teaching career, because
  he is passionate about teaching young students.
• Clark, Diann — Instructor of Piano.  BMus from Emporia (Kansas) State University.  Diann has almost 40 years of teaching experience.  She is the organist at Providence Baptist Church, and the accompanist for Festival Singers
  and Main Stage Singers of Carolina Voices.
• Contreras, Dennis — Instructor of Double Bass.  MM from Northwestern University, BMus from Brigham Young University.  Dennis teaches classical, jazz, and electric bass.
• Christian, Scott — Instructor of Timpani and Percussion. MM and BMus from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
  Scott has played timpani with the Charlotte Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, and several others. Scott's studio
  includes a full complement of percussion instruments.
• Gorkovoy, Vasily — Instructor of Violin and Viola. Artist Certificate from Southern Methodist University, MM from Texas Christian University, and BMus from Rostov on Don State Conservatory (Don, Russia). Vasily is a part-time member of the Charlotte Symphony, Asheville Symphony Orchestras and is a member of Quartet Del Mondo.
• Herlong, Joe — Instructor of Trumpet. MM and BME from Winthrop University. Joe is also a seasoned General Music and Band Instructor in area schools.
• Herrick, John — Instructor of Piano. BMusEd from West Chester State University, with additional studies at Westminster Choir College and Temple University.  John is also the Director of Music at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Charlotte, and performs with the Piedmont Piano Trio.
• Hunter, James — Instructor of Guitar. MM from the University of Memphis, and BMus from Winthrop University. James also teaches at Wingate University.
• Lehtinen, Michael — Director, and Instructor of Piano and Organ. He has taught at Southern Park Music School since 1995. DMA, MM from the Eastman School of Music, and BMus from Oberlin Conservatory. Musikgarten certification.
• Maughan, Sarah — Instructor of Voice. MM and BMus from the University of Utah. Sarah also teaches at Wingate University.
• McLaughlin, Victoria — Instructor of Cello.  BA from the University of Manizales (Colombia, South America). Suzuki certification. 
• Pappin, Gay — Instructor of Musikgarten and Music Theory. DMA & MM from Louisiana State University, BMEd
  from Ouachita Baptist University. Gay has taught piano, theory, and music appreciation at several universities.
• Steven Stevens — Instructor of Clarinet and Saxophone. BME from Stetson University, Deland, Florida. Steven
  has experience in teaching private clarinet and saxophone lessons and in conducting high school concert and symphonic bands.
• Talley, Laurel — Instructor of Musikgarten. MMT, BMus from Oberlin Conservatory. Musikgarten certification.
• Williams, Janice — Instructor of Voice and Piano. MM from St. Louis Conservatory of Music, BMus from Tulsa University. Janice is frequently in productions of Opera Carolina.
• Willis, Christopher —Instructor of Clarinet. MM and BMus from East Carolina University. Chris has over 10 years
  of teaching experience. He plays clarinet and bass clarinet with the Charlotte Civic Orchestra.
